Authentic or inauthentic?

We all have a picture of who we are.

"I am a hard worker with valuable skills."
"I am an intuitive leader who can really read people."
"I am really good at connecting with all types of people."
"My strength is my communication skills."

Sometimes that picture is spot on. When this is the case, people experience you as authentic.

Other times the picture we have of ourselves and how we really are is not in alignment. When this happens, people experience us as inauthentic.

Authentic leadership is a super power.

Self-awareness drives this super power.

Do the hard work of developing an accurate picture of who you really are so that people experience you as authentic.

"Why guess when you can know"

Let's say you see yourself as an intuitive leader. Ask people to name your strengths. If intuitive isn't mentioned...ask them, on a scale of 1-10...10 being off the charts, 1 being not at all..."how intuitive do you experience me?" Instead of guessing how people perceive us, just ask.

If we really want to understand how people experience us, there is a way. Often, we just simply would rather not know. We would rather protect our ego than grow as a leader.

SELF-AWARENESS COURSE

The absence of self-awareness triggers a host of issues, including:

-a lack of confidence
-a blindness to how others perceive you
-self-protective behaviors
-insecurities
...among others.

The foundation of leadership rests on a simple truth: You can't effectively lead others if you can't lead yourself, and you can't lead yourself without a deep understanding of who you truly are.

This is the root of leadership and the root is where the real work is done!
