Two questions to ask yourself...
Some questions are better than others. Some really stop you in your tracks and make you think.
I recently watched a video with a mental performance coach named Bill Beswick.
He was asking three questions. I am reducing the questions to two.
These two questions can be asked in your job, marriage, parenting, spiritual life, or any other part of your life.
Question One:
What do you really want?
As you ask this question- be specific.
Let's take marriage. What do you really want in your marriage? It is not enough to say "Well, I want a good marriage." Be more specific. "I want a marriage where my spouse and I serve each other, spend a ton of quality time together, and deepen our bond with each other."
Question Two:
What price are you willing to pay to get this? (or maybe "What comforts are you willing to forgo to get this?")
I doubt many people think to themselves "I would like a mediocre relationship with my spouse...and one in which they do their own thing with little communication."
If it is worth having, it will come at a cost.
Question one is designed to be super specific. Question two is designed to start counting the cost.
If you are not specific on what you really want, how do you know if you ever get 'it'.
If you want a great marriage but are unwilling to pay the price, you really don't want a great marriage.
PS. Bill Beswick's second question is "How bad do you want it?" So his order is "What do you really want?" "How bad do you want it?" and thirdly, "What price are you willing to pay to get it?" I think question three will, over time, answer question two.
Pick one area of life and spend time thinking through these two questions.
