Kingdom Coaching
Interview Prep
There are roughly 40,000 college coaches in the United States, most trying to grow and progress in their careers. No matter what sport you coach or what level you coach at…
Getting the job you want is really hard.
We think to ourselves or share with our most trusted friends “Give me a year and I can turn that program around!” Which may be true…
The problem is you have to win the job before you get a year to turn it around.
You may have a 30-minute Zoom interview or a one-day, in-person on-campus interview to win the job.
It might even feel unfair…"They told me I am not moving on…and it was based on a 45-minute Zoom call!"…but those are the rules.
So you have to CRUSH THE INTERVIEW!!
How most people prepare for the interview
We often prepare by:
+ Anticipating the questions that will be asked
+ Figuring out how to answer those questions
+ Memorizing them
+ Spending some time polishing our resume
The problem
This preparation is fine, but not enough.
The problem is that you will most likely give solid answers but fail to differentiate yourself.
You will often have one or more of these mistakes: Ramble, be too vague, sound stiff and mechanical, or get caught guessing how you should answer the question as opposed to being authentic.
The problem is that you are prepared to simply answer questions and not weave together a story of why you are the person for the job and deliver it with high-levels of clarity.
How we can help
You don’t lose interviews because you’re unqualified.
You lose them because you’re unclear, indistinct, or forgettable in the room…which hurts your ability to earn trust.
Hires often come down to trust…trust from the AD and committee. Do they trust that you can lead their program, create an elite student-athlete experience, and win at a high-level? Your ability to articulate your plan and blueprint goes a long way to winning trust from the AD and committee.

“Lee and Travis did an amazing job preparing me for all phases of my interview process. They would pray with me daily, ask simulated questions, take me through dos and don’ts, while also laying out great communication and visual examples to fully prepare me. I would strongly recommend them to anyone in the business.”
Brent Dearmon- Head Football Coach, Northern Alabama
Travis’ coaching is a no-brainer for anyone wanting to prepare themselves for the next step of their career and challenge their own thoughts/systems. I never felt more prepared and confident to express a vision and belief system in an organized process. This is a must for a growth mindset coach!
