What you consume is what you become
Lao Tzu “Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.”
Short reminder email today.
What we consume is what we slowly become. When Lao Tzu says "Watch your thoughts..." the question is where do our thoughts get formed.
One of the primary ways that our thoughts get formed is through social media. For those that consistently watch Fox/CNN/MSNBC, that is forming our thoughts.
Or if you are a consistent consumer of Theo Von's video's, that is forming your thoughts.
We get duped into believing that these things are harmless or that they are just our little escape or that we 'need' to stay up on the latest news, etc.
I propose that we all do two things: 1) cut in half (or more!) the time we spend consuming our social media choice. 2) Cut out anything that doesn't add value to you and your growth as a person/leader.
Spend time-consuming things that propel you forward.
The lie we believe is that these things are not harmful or don't affect us. That is a lie. What we consume can not not affect us.
We are being formed by someone or something every day.
What is currently forming you?
