What do you really control?

Leaders get in trouble when treating things you can only influence as something you can control.

There is a difference between what we can influence and what we can control.

Make sure you have clarity on what you really control…so you don’t try to control that which you can only influence.

When a leader tries to control what he/she can only influence, the people they lead often experience them as several things on this list…

manipulating
power-hungry
domineering
uptight
constantly gripping
stressed
anxious
short-tempered
know it all
all about you
loves rules (and has a ton of them)
petty
judgmental
shaming

So ask yourself, “What do I have 100% control of in my program?” The list will probably be shorter than you think.
